His name is Xing. Nothing more, nothing less, and he likes it that way.
Because he was nameless. He considered himself that way.
All he knew about his origin was a story told by the orphanage's caretaker.

Beijing, 10 August 1994

“It was an ordinary day, nothing much happened. You see, it does occur often where a random baby was placed on our doorstep and we're left with nothing but a confined choice—to take them in with us.” The gentle and kindhearted caretaker laughed softly, Xing remembered.
“You were no different either, but that doesn't make you any less lovely than the rest.”
”You were sobbing so low we were afraid whether you're actually alive or not.” The smile didn't falter a bit as she went on with the story.
“All that was left with you at that time was a blanket covering your body, a baby basket, and a brown envelope. That's your birth certificate.”
“Your name, supposedly, is Zhang Wei.”

Zhang Wei. Zhang Wei. Zhang Wei.
Xing was quiet; he didn't verbally react to the name despite a surge of certain emotions spurring within him. That was when he knew he didn't want to be associated with the name. Because it was given by a pair of human who were supposed to be responsible of him, to be the ones nurturing him instead of dumping him down in this orphanage.
He didn't say his thoughts aloud until many years later, until someone whom he deemed his savior came to take him.

Moments before he left the orphanage with his savior, he finally confided in.
“Auntie,” Xing called softly, his smile always apparent whenever he's around her. “If you were to look for me later, please never search for Zhang Wei.”
“But I've been calling you with the name...” Confusion grew on her face, but Xing only smiled dismissively.
“I'll let you know about it, Auntie. For all these years, thank you so much.” He murmured, bowing deeply toward the elder female.

Cai Jing. That's the name who had saved Xing from his previous phase of life. He's also the only man who shaped Xing to be who he is now. One of very few people who Xing considers as his family. Little Xing might have hated how Cai Jing raised him, but the current Xing is beyond thankful to be raised that way.
“Papa,” Xing called him that day. The elder male had instructed him to call him by that, so he went along. Cai Jing didn't answer, which was a silent cue for Xing to continue. Gulping down the bile in his throat, Xing went on. “I don't like my name. I know you have your ways around paperwork. Could I please change it?” Xing quietly pleaded, his head hung low before Cai Jing. The silence stretched for God knows how long and it only added more and more nervousness within Xing, until finally Cai Jing spoke up, startling Xing on his wake.
“I don't see why I should refuse,” he murmured, his gaze remained on Xing. “though knowing the reason why won't hurt the both of us, will it?” Cai Jing continued, the slightest hint of smile ghosting along his lips. Xing took a deep breath and told him the exact reason why, which only pull a wider smile on Cai Jing's face.
“I understand,” he finally said while standing up from his seat. “I know how you feel. I'd say by changing your name, you morphed yourself into a new individual; you gave yourself second chance to be reborn into this world.”
Xing kept himself silent, so Cai Jing continued. “You must have known what comes with your new name later. I want you to strive even better, I want you to live an even better life. I believe you've had your new name choice?” Cai Jing inquired and Xing nodded.
“Xing it is. No additional first name whatsoever. Just Xing, please.”
“What made you pick that name?”
“I want to be the star that radiates through everyone's life. I want to be the star that shines the brightest among thousands of star in the sky.”
Cai Jing did raise Xing well. Xing had grown an immense interest in dancing even before he was adopted, and under Cai Jing's hands, Xing got the best lessons people his age could afford. He learned every genre, every movement, everything.

Staying in Beijing apparently wasn't enough, even for Cai Jing's own measure, so he sent Xing to Seoul, where he could learn many, many more things as well as getting his opportunities better, leading to his later accolades in life. Currently he and Cai Jing reside in Seoul, living comfortably despite Cai Jing having to go back and forth to Beijing to take care of his own ventures.

Xing is calm and reserved, but once anyone is close to him, he actually has quite a big mouth and a lot to say. He doesn't draw back from his words and he can be quite opinionated. He considers himself as righteous and unless he's proven wrong, he won't even know to stop.

Xing is also calculative and he knows what he wants, needs, and longs, or in other words, Xing knows himself the best. He's both studious and tedious, unless he reaches perfection in his (usually) high standards, he will keep striving even when it costs him a lot.
